The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, the exclusive importer of petrol in Nigeria, has remained silent while residents of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, endure fuel shortages.

Investigations by DAILY POST at filling stations along Kubwa expressway revealed that most stations are not selling petrol except for NNPC and Salbas.

Aliyu Bello, a driver, expressed frustration, stating that he had been queuing at NNPC since 7 am.He wondered what could have resulted in the fuel scarcity this time.

“I have been here since 7 am today, yet no assurance that I could get the product. The situation is terrible. I wonder what could be the reason for this hardship”, he stated.

Benson Adejo, a resident, said the situation is the same in Abuja’s Lugbe and Wuye areas.“I queued at Shafa filling station Wuye for hours before I could get the product. On my way from Lugbe, I could not see any filling station dispensing”, he told DAILY POST.

DAILY POST reports that Kaduna residents are also experiencing fuel scarcity.

Calls and texts to the spokesperson of NNPCL, Femi Soneye, to get his comments to the fuel scarcity were not responded to as of the time of filing this report.Similarly, the National President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Abubakar Maigandi, did not reply to DAILY POST’s enquiry.

Recall that fuel subsidy removal by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government saw the pump price of fuel rise to between N617 and N690 per litre from N238.
