Dr. Ayodele Olorunfemi, the Labour Party’s candidate for the upcoming Ondo Governorship election, has pledged to tackle corruption in public offices if elected.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Olorunfemi stated, “No corrupt person will escape our system.”
He emphasized that his administration would adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards the wastage of public funds, ensuring a robust accountability system, transparency in procurement processes, and curbing bribery in public offices through technology.
Olorunfemi noted that corruption and bribery have deprived the masses of the dividends of democracy, leading to poverty and anger towards public officeholders.
He cited Governor Alex Otti of Abia, who has successfully implemented a zero-tolerance policy on corruption, as an example to follow.
“We must eliminate corruption in public offices; we must eliminate corruption in procurement and contract costs… Government money is going to be spent for the people,” Olorunfemi asserted.
The Labour Party candidate promised to follow all necessary processes and procedures to combat corruption in the state if elected.
The Ondo Governorship election is scheduled for November 16, with 17 political parties fielding candidates.
