– Protests enter day four, defying President Tinubu’s appeal to shelve demonstrations
– Demonstrators express dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s address, saying it failed to address core issues
– Church service held in Jos to seek divine intervention for Nigeria’s struggles
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu addressed Nigerians in a nationwide broadcast, urging them to end protests.
However, his appeal fell on deaf ears as protesters continued their demonstrations in various parts of the country. The protests, now in their fourth day, show no signs of slowing down.
In Lagos, protesters gathered at Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, singing solidarity songs and expressing dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s address.
They argued that his speech failed to address the core issues driving the protests, including hunger, bad governance, and economic hardship. Despite the presence of security personnel, the protesters remained resolute, vowing to continue demonstrating until their demands are met.
In Jos, the capital city of Plateau State, protesters held a church service at the Old Airport Roundabout, seeking divine intervention for Nigeria’s struggles.
The service, attended by Christian and Muslim leaders, including former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, highlighted the protesters’ desire for change. They believe that divine intervention can bring about the change they seek. The protesters, carrying Nigerian flags, blocked the roundabout, forcing motorists to find alternative routes through the city.
Similarly, protests are still ongoing in other parts of the country. Demonstrators in these cities are demanding action from the government to address the country’s economic challenges and ensure good governance.
