A two-storey residential building in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, was gutted by fire on Sunday, according to Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary.
The incident occurred at No. 14 Okobaba Street, off Ibadan Street.
The LASEMA Response Team responded to a distress call and arrived at the scene to find the building engulfed in flames. Further investigation revealed that the fire started in a flat on the top floor.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were recorded due to the swift intervention of emergency responders. The fire affected several units in the building, including a two-bedroom flat and a single room.
The fire has been subdued, and dampening down operations are ongoing, Oke-Osanyintolu stated. He praised the quick response of the LRT, LASEMA Fire Unit, and other agencies.
