Gov’t seals Hotel Over Death Of a Lady Clubber In Anambra

Following the death of Miss Chinyere Awuda, Anambra State government has sealed off Cosmila Hotel in Awka, the state capital

The lady was reported to have been beaten to death by some fun seekers, who clubbed in the hotel to celebrate the birthday of their friend.

There are, however, varied accounts of Miss Awuda’s death. While some people said she was accused of picking and pocketing money being sprayed on the celebrant, others said she had stolen some money meant to be sprayed, and made to escape, before she was apprehended.

While police authorities in the state confirmed that the celebrant and his friends who were accused of beating the girl to death and dumping her body in a pool have been arrested, the state commissioner for culture, tourism and entertainment, Hon Don Onyeji said the hotel has been sealed.

Onyenji affirmed it that the hotel has been sealed.

“Yes, we have visited the hotel, and also sealed it off.

“We are in touch with the police, who are already investigating the matter, and the facility will remain sealed, pending the outcome of the police investigation.” he added

The Federal Government has dispelled rumors that the Murtala Muhammed Expressway in Abuja was renamed Wole Soyinka Way.

The government clarified that the renaming of the expressway was never considered by the current administration.

Instead, a new road was inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu on June 4, 2024, which was named Arterial Road N20.

This new road connects the Outer Northern Expressway to the Northern Parkway and was named after Prof. Wole Soyinka.

The confusion arose from a proposal by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, during the inauguration, which was approved by President Tinubu. ”

The government emphasized that the Murtala Muhammed Expressway remains unchanged, honoring the legacy of the former Head of State, Gen. Murtala Ramat Muhammed.

Therefore, the Arterial Road N20 is named after Prof Soyinka.

The Murtala Muhammed Expressway remains unchanged, the government stressed.
