Belgium’s football federation has appointed French coach Rudi Garcia as the new head of the national team, following the dismissal of Domenico Tedesco.

The 60-year-old, with experience managing top clubs like Napoli, Lyon, Roma, and Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr, will take over after Belgium’s disappointing exit from Euro 2024.

The Belgian Football Federation announced Garcia’s appointment on Friday and stated that he would be formally presented to the press later that day.

His primary challenge will be to revive the national team’s fortunes after a series of underwhelming performances, including a poor run in the Nations League.

Tedesco, who had been in charge since February 2023, was sacked last week after Belgium’s early exit from Euro 2024. The national team is now preparing for a crucial relegation play-off against Ukraine in March.
